Product Description

Melitino is an exceptionally rare wine, as it is the only dessert wine produced from sun-dried grapes of the Zakynthino variety.

It is made from an old, privately owned, ungrafted, pre-phylloxera vineyard in the Eleios area of southern Kefalonia. The vines are trained in goblet shape and are dry-farmed, worked by hand, and cultivated using organic practices.

Beginning in the vineyard with strict pruning, late harvesting, and particularly careful selection, we use only perfectly healthy grapes for our wine. Further sugar concentration is achieved through brief and indirect exposure of the grapes to the sun. We vinify solely the free-run juice and lightly pressed must, as naturally as possible, allowing the terroir to express its own character. We choose not to use fining agents or filters during the process or at bottling, so as to better preserve its authentic character.

Melitino is proof of our dedication to rare local varieties — rich and complex, with an explosive personality and a bold character that evolves even further with long aging.
